GK Vines | History
..............................................................
It all began for me when I was a young boy, my grandfather took me for a walk through the Vineyards of Sommerein for the very first time.
Over the years we did this quiet often, these are some of my earliest and best memories I have of us being together.
There is so much more to wine than drinking it and this is what we try to achieve with “ Back to the Roots”
Over the years there have been a lot of changes in the way wine is produced and we have found the synergy between passion and tradition in wine making.
Two World Wars and foreign occupancy over 10 years could not stop the winemakers of this region, do what they do best making wine of highest quality.
Martin Geistler and I grew up together in Sommerein and his Vineyard and wine is well known. In 2009 we touched base again and talked about a project together and as much GK Vines stands for Guenther Kopf it stands for Geistler and Kopf our last names.
I found a partner who understands that in today's business world it takes a vision, a great concept and product that separates you from the competition to make the difference and I hope you will agree that this is what we have achieved with our Exclusive Line.
We look at the great winemakers like Petrus, Dom Perignon, Chateau Margaux or from the new world, Opus One, Mondavi, Caymus, Kennwood, Beringer, and so many more that come in to mind and we are impressed with their achievements because all of them had a vision. As I travelled the world I had the chance to meet so many other wine producers.
Of course I also admire the hard work and achievements of our Austrian winemakers who's contribution to the popularity of their product and our Country is remarkable.
